With all of that in mind, let's dive into our season 1 finale recap, catching you up on where you left off with the game-changing episode.
En Sabah Nur
During the season 1 finale, the X-Men prevented Magneto from sending the world back into the Dark Ages. Sadly, it didn’t come without consequences for the X-Men as Marvel's Mightiest Mutants ended up scattered throughout time.
Charles Xavier, Beast, Magneto, Rogue, and Nightcrawler were sent into the past (3000 B.C. to be exact). While there, they encountered En Sabah Nur long before he becomes one of the X-Men’s most dangerous enemies, Apocalypse. In 3960 A.D., Cyclops and Jean Grey meet a young Nathan Summers (Cable) and Mother Askani (Rachel Grey).
The funny thing about both teams is that both are meeting Apocalypse at pivotal moments in time. The past is before En Sabah Nur becomes the strong force of nature we know today. In the future, Apocalypse has established himself as a worldwide threat. This is also the time period that hardens Nathan Summers and turns him into Cable.

Wolverine and Morph
In the penultimate episode of season 1, Magento ripped the adamantium off of Wolverine’s bones. It left Logan in a coma-like state with Morph watching over him. During this time, Morph changed into Jean Grey and said something they’ve been holding onto for a while, telling Logan they love him.
At the end of the season finale, the whereabouts of Logan and Morph are unclear. However, it looks like both X-Men members are together, and it’s honestly fitting. If there’s anyone who can help Logan adjust to a life without his adamantium, it’s Morph. Especially if this becomes a comic book-accurate moment and Logan becomes more feral.
In the present
While the X-Men are scattered throughout time, Forge and Bishop are working on a way to bring them back to the present. Meanwhile, Earth still needs mutant protectors. Thankfully, X-Factor (Havok, Multiple Man, Polaris, Strong Guy, and Wolfsbane) is around.
Lastly, the final moments of season 1 left fans with a smile and a chilling feeling down their backs. Apocalypse picks up a playing card and says, “So much death.” Comic book fans know that this hints towards the return of Gambit and becoming Apocalypse’s Horseman Death. Yes, a hint doesn’t mean a guarantee, but it’s likely. To find out if that’s the case, the release schedule for X-Men ‘97 is up next.
