The Marvel Cinematic Universe had a slow 2025 in terms of box office reception, but it won't pull any punches next year. Things will kick off with an explosive street-level adventure featuring everybody's favorite friendly neighborhood hero teaming up with Hulk and Punisher in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. The next stop is a full-on multiversal tale that's set to be the beginning of the end of everything the MCU has built so far. And while the two projects couldn't sound any more different, they already have one thing in common: their protagonists will sport jaw-dropping costumes.
Fans unanimously agree that Peter Parker's suit in Spider-Man: Brand New Day is nothing short of perfection. It might've even achieved the impossible and dethroned Andrew Garfield's look in The Amazing Spider-Man 2. With such a high bar, Avengers: Doomsday might need to strive for perfection and give its entire ensemble of characters comic-book-accurate looks. The best part? It seems that's exactly what the movie will do, as revealed by a new promo art.
Avengers: Doomsday promotional art showcases the heroes in their costumes
Avengers: Doomsday recently wrapped filming, and one of the movie's makeup artists took to social media to celebrate by posting a picture of their bag, which contains a promotional art featuring some of the many characters set to make an appearance. There are many things to break down, but perhaps most notably is the fact that we finally know what the X-Men will look like in costumes, and it's everything we could've hoped for.
James Marsden's Cyclops finally sports the iconic blue and yellow suit, which looks almost like a one-to-one copy of the one seen in X-Men '97. Furthermore, Alan Cumming's Nightcrawler would also appear to be wearing the character's usual blue and red suit seen in comic book pages. Rebecca Romjin's Mystique is seen in a white and blue suit, which is a nod to the white dress she usually wears in the source material. Gambit is the only character who doesn't appear to have undergone a major wardrobe overhaul, but that's only because he already had a comic-book accurate look in Deadpool & Wolverine.

Unfortunately, the image can't be seen in its entirety, and there's a spot in the top-middle of the promotional art featuring an unknown character who's out of sight. However, chances are this is meant to represent Magneto, as a red costume can be barely seen on the bottom half. If that's the case, then Avengers: Doomsday could be the first Marvel movie where the entirety of the X-Men have comic-book accurate looks, which is nothing short of exciting in itself. But if that wasn't enough, there are also a few more surprises to break down.
For starters, we have yet another look at Robert Downey Jr.'s Doctor Doom, and his menacing design goes in line with the one Disney showcased in its merchandise presentation. Furthermore, Thor seems to be pulled straight from his Infinity War era, with a short haircut and a similar black costume (except it has gold details, this time around). Namor will get to wear a new suit, and the Fantastic Four will all get new jackets.
The Russo Brothers recently posted an Avengers: Doomsday teaser on their social media pages. Coupled with Doom's costume reveal and now this promotional art, it seems Marvel is slowly pulling back the curtain on their most anticipated crossover to date. We might still be over a year away from finally witnessing it, but a teaser trailer feels closer and closer now. With a bit of luck, the wait will prove to be worth it.
Avengers: Doomsday will be released on Dec. 18, 2026.
