Friendships are broken

Back at the end of episode 6, Nico Minoru discovered Peter Parker is Spider-Man. However, the cat was out of the bag only because Harry mistakenly gave the secret away, and not because Peter actually told her himself. As a result, she isn't talking to the web-slinger anymore, even when he chases him through the school hallway while wanting to explain the whole situation.

Pearl Pangan notices there's something wrong between the two ex-friends, so she talks to Peter about it. As it turns out, Pearl isn't in the best of spots either considering she and her boyfriend, Lonnie Lincoln, aren't talking as well. The ex-football superstar has been missing classes and was dropped from the football team, which seems extremely out of character. However, Lincoln's suspicious behavior is all because he joined the Tenth Street Gang, a little secret nobody but his little brother, Andre, knew.... until now, that is. After talking with Peter, Pearl receives a strange message from Andre wanting to talk about the whole Lincoln situation.

Back at Oscorp Industries, Norman reveals to Peter that there might be a way to track down Otto Octavious; the mad scientist who has been selling high-tech weapons to small-time criminals. If Norman can discover what kind of energy source the weapons are using, then he could track that energy back to the villain's hideout. Peter being the genius that he is, quickly comes up with the answer: Gamma Radiation. You know, exactly the thing that turned the Hulk into a huge rampaging monster. With that lead, Norman begins tracking traces of Gamma Radiation across the city, when he comes across a big output of unstable energy.

It turns out that someone is using a new, big weapon crafted by Otto Octavius and leaving a trail of destruction in its path. And who's this mystery player? None other than The Scorpion — a supervillain whose suit was crafted back in episode six. Peter is quick to suit up and swing across the city in hopes of putting a stop to the latest supervillain in town. But while the wall-crawler is more preoccupied with finding the weapon of mass destruction running free on the streets, Norman is focused on only one thing: Finding Otto. So the question must be asked: What does the mad scientist have on Norman?

The Scorpion attacks

Back in the Tenth Street Hideout, the gang is preparing to go on a war against The Scorpions and Mac Gargan. Lonnie Lincoln is also there, in the middle of all preparations, when Pearl unexpectedly arrives. Remember how Andre wanted to talk to her about Lonnie? Well, he told her everything that's been going on with his big brother lately. Pearl wanted to see for herself if his boyfriend was indeed a member of the gang, and much to her surprise that was the case. The two argue for a little while in the hideout, but then tragedy strikes.

The Scorpion, fully equipped with his mechanical suit, arrives at the scene determined to take his rival gang down once and for all. The supervillain stings a few people, takes many out of the picture, and then focuses on attacking Lonnie. Things are looking grim, and just when Lonnie is about to go down, Spider-Man arrives at the scene. A big fight between him and The Scorpion unfolds, while the rest of the Tenth Street Gang takes advantage of the chaos to flee the scene.

Meanwhile, in a different part of town, Harry Osborn visits Nico Minoru and attempts to talk to her about the whole Spider-Man situation. Nico isn't really happy to see him, and she's about to leave but Harry offers to buy her food (which is an offer nobody could reject). At long last, the two finally talk. Nico makes it very clear that she's upset Peter kept her "out of the loop" every time he suited up and went to save the city along with Harry's help. She's feeling left out. However, Norman tries to explain the whole situation and how he isn't in control of who Peter trusts his secret with but to no avail. After losing hope, Harry tells Nico he'll simply drive her home. However, on the way back Nico reveals she doesn't know how to drive, and Harry jumps at the opportunity to teach her.

The two slowly and clumsily make their way home, with Nico behind the driver's seat. However, another driver realizes Harry Osborn is next to them at a stop light, and starts mocking the rich teenager. Nico gets furious and challenges the other driver to a race, which would seem like a pretty bad idea considering she barely knows how to drive. However, she holds onto her necklace's amulet, and with a bit of magical intervention, she's able to win the race. As simple as that, audiences discover there's more to Nico than meets the eye. On the bright side, she finally makes peace with Harry, even if she's still mad with Peter.

Speaking of the wall-crawler, he's still in the middle of a fight with the Scorpion, and things aren't looking great. The superhero asks Norman for help but the billionaire is more preoccupied with finding Otto's whereabouts than aiding his protegee. In a shocking twist of events, Mac Gargan gets the upper hand and stabs the web-slinger with his mechanical tail. Peter falls, and it isn't until an alarm in the Spider-Man suit alerts Norman that something wrong is going on that he finally sends some help. The Goblin's glider arrives at the scene just to bail Peter out moments before the hideout bursts into a great fire. While the wall-crawler barely makes it out alive, the battle is nowhere near finished. But when we'll we get to see more of the Scorpion? Well, we'll have to tune in to more episodes of Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man to find out.
