Those of you that follow the Spider-Man comic book series will undoubtedly be wondering where to start with a new year one origin series on the way, a possible Spider-Men sequel as well as the return of Amazing Spider-Man following the imminent conclusion to the Superior Spider-Man series, not to mention the huge upcoming Spider-Man storyline entitled the Spider-Verse.

However now there’s one more Spider-Man series to juggle as Spider-Man 2099 is about to get another swing at things after his foray into present-day time as part of the Superior Spider-Man. Future Spidey will be getting his own series in July.

The series will see the return of Marvel’s first latino Spider-Man Miguel as a man out of time, thrust into the past (i.e. the present day Marvel Universe) with a goal to prevent the dark future he came from. Also on board for the new series is the original Spider-Man 2099 writer from the 1990’s Peter David. Also taking part in the project is artist Will Sliney from ‘Fearless Defenders’.

Newsarma reports “Miguel is now trapped in the present day Marvel Universe, so straight away we have to deal with the fact that in the greatest of Marvel traditions, we have a hero out of time,” Sliney says, “I’m looking forward to drawing that iconic costume in the surroundings of some of New York’s gritty and textured looking neighborhoods.”

David says the new series will start with someone attempting to “remove Miguel violently” from this timeline. After that O’Hara will be pursuing the dealers behind Spider Slayers being sold to foreign countries, as well as delving into the just announced “Spider-Verse” event this fall. But there is a broader overarching story, according to David, dealing with Liz Allen and Miguel’s grandfather, Tiberius Stone.

So there you have it folks. Exciting times ahead for Spidey’s comic book fans.
