It seems Arrow‘s Felicity Smoak had time at MIT to do some dating while she was learning to become a dual-threat IT/hacking expert.

We know this because Nolan Funk, who’s been on Glee and Awkward, has been cast as Felicity’s college boyfriend, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The report doesn’t say whether Funk’s scenes will be in the present or in flashbacks, which is significant because he’ll pop up in the fifth episode of Season 3 — once titled “Oracle” but now called “The Secret Origin of Felicity Smoak,” and one that obviously delves into her background.
If Funk does show up in present day Starling City, it could further complicate what’s shaping up to be a busy season for Felicity on the romance front. We already know that Oliver Queen will be asking her out on a date in the season premiere, she’s been carrying a torch for Barry Allen since he first was introduced on Arrow, and Brandon Routh is rumored to be vying for her affections as well as Ray Palmer/The Atom.
With all that attention, let’s hope she still has some free time left to help Team Arrow keep the streets safe from crime.
