Machinima Lands ‘JLA: Gods and Monsters’ Mini-series

When DC Entertainment announced the release of JLA: Gods and Monsters during Comic-Con my heart skipped a beat. Not only because it’s a pretty decent commentary on the superhero genre, but because it heralded the return of the great Bruce Timm to the company’s  animated division. Timm was responsible for Batman: The Animated Series and many of the best DC Animated films. Many hardcore fans felt that the entire animated universe had begun to lose its way without him. Well, DC is taking things a step farther with the announcement that not only is Gods and Monsters going to be three part miniseries now called The Gods and Monsters Chronicles, but that it’s going to be an online exclusive series. Machinima is the lucky recipient of the exclusive contract, DC announced today.

"We are committed to delivering DC Entertainment’s extensive line-up of world-class characters and stories to audiences across all platforms and formats. ‘Justice League: Gods and Monsters’ is an exciting opportunity to bring alternate versions of DC Comics’ iconic Justice League characters to Machinima, and we look forward to bringing this new animated shortform series to life with our partners across Warner Bros."

This seems like a bold experiment by the publisher to delve into the online sphere, similar to Marvel’s Netflix originals coming soon.
