Could there be a better villain for Halloween than Jack O’Lantern? Unless Marvel someday negotiates the rights to use the Great Pumpkin, probably not.

This Green Goblin wannabe is perfect for Halloween-themed events, which is exactly what Spider-Man Unlimited is using him for right now. In “Halloween Horror,” you’ve got to grab as many pumpkins as possible during your run, with a Rare Scarlet Spider (Ben Reilly) as the top progress reward and an Epic Scarlet Spider plus 100 ISO-8 awarded to the top scorer in your group of 1,000 players. Both of the prize characters plus the Bombastic Bag-Man can give you score bonuses. Guess they felt sorry for that guy.

“Fright Night” (no relation to the movies of the same name) rewards you for taking down bosses, and you’ll find Jack O’Lantern, Sandman and all previous villains in the mix. The top cumulative and high score prizes are both the Epic Spider-Man 2099, while other high scorers can grab a Rare version of Mangaverse Spider-Man for the first time.

One word of caution: Jack O’Lantern has some tricks as well as treats, as I’ve encountered some of his flame bombs that glitch and turn invisible, which can turn you into a crispy Spider-Man without warning. That sizzling sound is pretty cool until it turns out to be you!

Both Halloween events in Spider-Man Unlimited are live for the next three days, so be sure to take down that pumpkin-headed copycat while you have the chance.
