Rob Liefeld Says Cable Is Coming To Movies, Will Be Awesome

I mean, of course he would say that. Rob Liefeld did co-create Cable, after all, and he’s got a well known history for proclaiming that one thing or another would be awesome.

Be that as it may, and whether you consider yourself a Liefeld fan or hater, he’s come up with some pretty cool ideas and characters in his time, and Cable is definitely one of them. He hasn’t made an appearance yet in any of the Fox X-Men movies, but you always had a feeling it was only a matter of time, particularly once X-Men: Days of Future Past started mucking around with time travel.

While he didn’t tip his hand as to which movie might feature Cable’s first appearance — Fox has both X-Men: Apocalypse and Deadpool in the works, at the very least — Liefeld did promise during a recent convention appearance that we’d see Nathan Summers. And yes, the word “awesome” was used:

"Cable is awesome. And he will … when he appears on screen, we’re all going to nerdgasm, because he’s coming. They can’t hold him back. He’s coming."

The big questions will be how many pouches he’ll have on his movie costume and how big the gun he’s carrying will be when he shows up. Because to stay true to Liefeld’s vision, the answers should be “as many as possible” and “ridiculously huge.”

Expect to hear more about Cable as Fox’s X-Men plans for the next few years continue to round into shape.
