Why, you ask? Because Lego Batman 3: Beyond Gotham released today for darn near every video game platform currently in use. With more than 150 playable DC heroes and villains, it’s bigger than its predecessors in every way that counts, and those games were already lots of fun.
Though we haven’t played the actual release version yet, we did get a chance to go hands on with a pretty advanced build of the game last month at New York Comic Con, and everything from the graphics to the voice work to some of the new gameplay concepts looked very impressive. The developers at Traveller’s Tales were really allowed to let their imaginations run wild, and the story — which features Brainiac looking to go another step beyond just shrinking down cities — is large enough in scope that it makes perfect sense to see so many characters involved.
That subtitle is also no joke, as the action goes way beyond Gotham City into outer space and also to some of the most famous locations in the DC Universe. If you didn’t pre-order Lego Batman 3, you’ll want to get your hands on a copy ASAP. Or maybe bug that Santa Claus guy for a holiday that’s coming up fast …
