Warner Eyeing Game Of Thrones, The Walking Dead Director For Wonder Woman
By Nick Tylwalk
According to a recent report, Warner Bros. has its eye on a female director for its upcoming Wonder Woman movie, and one who’s already proven her genre chops by directing episodes of two of the hottest shows on TV.

The Hollywood Reporter says that Michelle MacLaren is the leading candidate to direct Wonder Woman, though the studio has met with other female directors as well. The studio did not comment on the report.
MacLaren has directed episodes of both The Walking Dead and Game of Thrones, and it’s hard to get two bigger feathers in one’s cap right now than those two. THR’s sources say she met with Warner back during the summer and has emerged as the front-runner even though the studio won’t necessarily insist on a female director.
And while no one is suggesting this is a make or break decision, it’s definitely an important one. The race to see which studio can successfully launch a female-led super hero movie is heating up, with Marvel announcing Captain Marvel and Sony apparently planning something as well. What Wonder Woman has over every other female hero is a tremendous amount of name recognition, and that’s something Warner Bros. certainly doesn’t want to squander.
Wonder Woman isn’t due until 2017, so there’s some time to make the choice, but don’t be shocked if we hear more on this soon.
