Latest Insane Fan Theory: Bane Wanted Batman To Win?
Bane was one of the primary villains of The Dark Knight Rises, the final Batman film in director Chris Nolan’s trilogy. But what if what Bane really wanted was to be a tougher version of Batman, for what he thought was the city’s own good? Big spoilers ahead if for some reason you still haven’t gotten around to watching The Dark Knight Rises yet.

According to Reddit user ciociosanvstar, Bane’s actions in The Dark Knight rises were part of an elaborate plot to actually convince Gotham that they need Batman and of Batman’s importance as a symbol. This is why he brings things like the truth of Harvey Dent to the surface and even breaking Bruce’s back has a point-to make Bruce Wayne come back stronger and re-determined. Also as a symbol, Batman can live on past one man, hence Bruce Wayne actually retiring and moving on and John Blake taking over the role of Batman.
There are obviously some holes in this theory, namely that Bane is devoted to Talia and Talia’s goal was to completely destroy Gotham, but it’s an interesting theory nonetheless and at least as plausible as half the “carefully planned” moments the Joker had in Dark Knight that all relied on pure coincidence…
