Kabam, Marvel Teaming For Second Mobile Game Fall 2015
By Nick Tylwalk
While we wait anxiously for Marvel: Contest of Champions (which was available for hands-on time at New York Comic Con and looked pretty great), Marvel and Kabam have been working on something else.

The companies announced today that their partnership will extend to a second mobile game, described only as an RPG and targeted for Fall 2015 release. While Contest of Champions was developed by Kabam’s Vancouver studio, the new title will originate in San Francisco from the same team that created Castle Age and Underworld Empire.
“The Marvel brand represents some of the most iconic and loved characters in the history of action entertainment,” Kabam COO Kent Wakeford said in a statement. “Marvel continues to dominate the box office with mega hit after mega hit, and we at Kabam look forward to extending Marvel’s universe into a blockbuster mobile game.”
RPG is a pretty broad category, so it’s tough to say at this juncture what kind of gameplay to expect. Kabam has a history of working with licenses like Lord of the Rings and The Hunger Games and always does them justice in terms of visuals and audio, but my personal preference would be for something more akin to console-style role-playing games than the lighter fare often found on mobile.
Regardless, this partnership has the potential to continue to bear fruit for both sides, and Contest of Champions is on my most anticipated list for sure, so I’m optimistic about this new announcement as well.
