In January, that’s exactly what you’ll see, as eight different titles releasing that month will have “IN” variant covers to honor the first ever College Football Playoff. Guess super heroes didn’t like the BCS era either.
In case you’re wondering what the link is here, it’s important to remember that Marvel is owned by Disney. So is ESPN, which is televising the games, so …
“Excitement couldn’t be higher for the first ever College Football Playoff,” Marvel Editor-in-Chief Axel Alonso said in a press release. “As a salute to our sister company ESPN, we wanted to tap into all the excitement and fervor surrounding this monumental sporting event. With so much discussion and debate around swirling around, some of Marvel’s greatest super heroes wanted to get IN on the action.”
Even if the connection to college football is a bit of a stretch, the minimalist designs are definitely cool. So, um, go Oregon and TCU if you make it “IN” the College Football Playoff!
Unless Punisher tells me to root for someone else. I’m not arguing with that guy.
