First Look: Heroes Take A Stand In Avengers: No More Bullying #1
By Nick Tylwalk
It’s always good to think that comic books can do some good in the real world. Most of them are intended strictly as entertainment, but some have a secondary purpose as well, and Avengers: No More Bullying #1 is one of them.

As silly as it may sound, some of the Avengers have origins where bullying played a prominent role. Take Spider-Man, for instance. The wall-crawler experienced his fair share of being picked on back when he was simply scrawny Peter Parker, and it’s easy to see why he’d be the perfect character to get the message across that bullying can’t be tolerated.
Spidey is indeed one of the characters in Avengers: No More Bullying #1, but he’s far from the only one as other members of the Avengers and the Guardians of the Galaxy appear in stories written by Gerry Duggan, Sean Ryan, Jeff Loveness and Jody Houser (in her first work for Marvel) and illustrated by Carlo Barberi, Tana Ford, Marcio Takara and Gustavo Duarte.
“From Peter Parker, Midtown High’s only professional wallflower, to the ever-misunderstood Kamala Khan, Marvel has a proud history of working to raise awareness about bullying and representing its victims as much as possible,” series editor Devin Lewis said in a press release. “Bullying is a problem that can affect everyone in a community, and it’s up to that very community to come together to combat it, and, with this issue, Marvel’s Avengers, Spider-Man, and Guardians of the Galaxy are joining the fight! I know how comic books can help ease that feeling of isolation, and I couldn’t be more proud or excited about the talent we’ve pulled together for this project!”
