Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. Will Have “Connections” To Avengers: Age Of Ultron
By Nick Tylwalk
We’ve seen and been told numerous times that everything in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is linked, whether it happens on the big screen or on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Expect that same synergy to continue next year when Avengers: Age of Ultron is released on May 1.

Entertainment Weekly got the scoop on that front directly from Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. executive producers Jed Whedon and Maurissa Tancharoen. Both of them told EW that the events of Age of Ultron would be felt on the sophomore TV series, though Tancharoen cautioned that it might not be the same kind of dramatic impact the Hydra infiltration of S.H.I.E.L.D. (during Captain America: The Winter Soldier) had earlier this year:
"I don’t think any movie has the potential to impact us in the way that Captain America 2 did, but there will be connections."
The threat of Ultron is such that no one expects Phil Coulson’s team to be directly involved. As Samuel L. Jackson put it when asked why Nick Fury isn’t in Age of Ultron for more than a cameo, the movie is a “people with powers fighting people with powers” deal.
Still, with the movie releasing just a few weeks before Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will wrap up its second season, there’s a definite chance for the movie to affect the team’s status quo. One scenario I could definitely envision is the public demanding more oversight of super heroes after Ultron runs amok, which could allow S.H.I.E.L.D. to emerge from the shadows, and even set up the themes that will be in play during Captain America: Civil War.
It’s too early to do anything but speculate, but it’s good to know the MCU connectivity is going to continue.
