Guardians Of The Galaxy Out Now On Blu-Ray And DVD
By Nick Tylwalk
We’re coming down the stretch run toward Christmas and other gift-giving holidays, and as luck would have it, Marvel just dropped one of the best possible stocking stuffers right in our laps. I’m talking about Guardians of the Galaxy, which releases today on Blu-ray and DVD.

Call me old-fashioned, but I still enjoy having physical copies of movies I really love, and this is one that qualifies on that score. As with most release these days, you’ve got some options when it comes to format, though there has been (understandable) griping from some corners over the fact that not all of the combo packs include a digital copy. Most notably, Guardians isn’t being sold in my format of choice, which is the Blu-ray/DVD/Digital HD combo.
Nevertheless, there are some retailer exclusives worth investigating:
- Best Buy – 3D Blu-ray/Blu-ray/Digital copy – comes in exclusive SteelBook packaging
- Target – 3D Blu-ray/Blu-ray/Digital copy – includes an exclusive featurette called “An In-Depth Look Into Creating the Galaxy”
- Walmart – Blu-ray – includes a limited edition, embossed O-sleeve in one of five different designs, one for each of the main characters
All of the various Blu-ray formats include deleted scenes, “Making-of” featurettes, a gag reel, audio commentary and a look at Avengers: Age of Ultron. DVD buyers? Well, you’ll have to content yourselves with just the deleted scenes and Age of Ultron sneak peek.
In any case, you’ve got some choices to make, but there’s no wrong decision when you’re talking about Guardians of the Galaxy. I’m still hoping for the Awesome Mix Vol. 1 cassette tape, but I won’t be mad at Santa if he drops the DVD in there too.
