See The Kingsman: The Secret Service Red Band Trailer
By Nick Tylwalk
You might not know The Secret Service, the comic by Mark Millar and Dave Gibbons from a few years ago. I know I’ve never read it.

As a result, you might have been as surprised as I was when I saw the first trailer for Kingsman: The Secret Service, the movie loosely based on that comic in theaters. And I’ll admit, my first thought was, “Wait, is this like spies given the YA treatment, like James Bond meets The Hunger Games?” That was followed quickly by my second thought, which was something like, “Samuel L. Jackson … that dude is in everything!”
I didn’t give it much thought since then, but this post on Cinema Blend caught my eye and convinced me to check out the movie’s new red band trailer. There’s more here than meets the eye, including generous amounts of violence, some sexuality, and Sam Jackson saying bad words.
Want another comic book connection? Matthew Vaughn has done movies based on them before, like Kick-Ass and X-Men: First Class. This flick might be more like the former than the latter.
Fox has moved this movie all around, from November to March to October before finally settling on February 13. That can sometimes be the sign of a lack of confidence, and it could be that Cinema Blend uncovered another sign by pointing out how different this trailer is than the previous ones, as if the studio is unsure of how to market it. Give it a look and judge for yourself.
Warning: Not suitable for all audiences. Viewer discretion is advised.
