War Erupts In The NYC Underworld In Amazing Spider-Man: Spiral
By Nick Tylwalk
Peter Parker is probably going to be hoping for something a little more down to Earth once Spider-Verse wraps up. Unfortunately, an all-out war for control of the New York City underworld isn’t exactly a good way to unwind.

Yet that’s exactly what awaits the wall-crawler in March, when writer Gerry Conway and artist Carlo Barberi (with covers by Art Adams) dive into Amazing Spider-Man: Spiral. With turf wars breaking out all over NYC, Spider-Man is going to be scrambling to contain the violence. At least Police Captain Yuri Watanabe is trying to do the same thing, but at night, she’s also the vigilante called the Wraith, and she and Spidey might not agree on what needs to be done to stop the underworld bosses from throwing their weight around.
“Hammerhead; Tombstone; the Circus of Crime; Black Cat and Mr. Negative – they’re all at each other’s throats because there’s no single overlord of crime currently running things in New York,” Conway said in an interview with Marvel.com. “Things only escalated, especially after the Goblin King fell out of the scene and Doc Ock is no longer operating as the Superior Spider-Man – keeping a lid on everything.”
Hey, you know it’s real whent he Circus of Crime is staking its claim! Look for Spiral to begin in Amazing Spider-Man #16.1 (yes, this is another decimal series) in March, though it’s a pretty safe bet we’ll get a closer look at it before that.
