Marvel Planning their own 2018 (and beyond) Spider-Man franchise!!

The news just keeps pouring in on the hack against Sony. Now a new source via Reddit’s Spider-Man side of things has supposedly just leaked some more information from Disney’s side whilst nothing is official their sources say Marvel is planning a small but important Spider-Man cameo in Cap 3.

"Spider-Man would be joining the MCU in a small but important cameo in Cap 3, with the first movie of a new franchise already being prepped for a 2018 release date"

As you can see, this is the start of plans to kick-off a new Spider-Man franchise starting in 2018. The films are set to land on their feet by skipping the origin story of the Spider-Man and starting around college time, or at least a ‘few years’ after Peter Parker becomes Spider-man. This would mean that Sony and Marvel would have come to some sort of deal, and the Reddit post announced that the good news is set to follow with January’s Spidey-Summit.

"Sony Japan and Sony Pictures renegotiated a deal with Marvel Studios. Nothing has been made 100% official yet, and the final decision is still set to be made in January at Sony’s “Spidey Summit”, but all of the plans are now in place. If Sony agrees to the deal, Marvel will then hold creative control over future Spidey films while Sony gets a share of the profits he makes, with marketing and distribution rights for all standalone films."

More from Spider-Man

Marvel has proven time and time again they get their characters, they know what’s right for their own movies, and they aren’t afraid to take risks. Time will tell if Sony have actually agreed to this, but the hopes are good and well that they have. It’s not like Sony would be at any sort of loss, they’ll still get a significant fraction of the money made. Let’s all hope for the best.

Some more information about what Marvel has stated, including proposed actors for Spider-Man is also included in the post.

"Marvel has already begun development on the script, and has begun looking at potential directors for the Spider-Man reboot. Marvel will not be bringing Andrew Garfield onboard, but has talked to him separately about possibly joining Marvel for another role in a future film of theirs.Marvel already has a shortlist of actors in mind for the Peter Parker role that includes: Anton Yelchin, Dylan O’Brien, Freddie Highmore, Thomas Mann, Logan Lerman, Michael Angarano, Douglas Booth, Nat Wolff, and Skandar Keynes."
