Wizard World New Orleans Gets The Walking Dead #1 Variant By Michael Cho
By Nick Tylwalk
This year’s Wizard World variant cover program was all about Marvel. In 2015, walkers are getting their turn to shine — as much as shambling undead corpses can shine, anyway — as The Walking Dead takes over on the limited edition comics given out at Wizard World shows, and that starts with the very first stop of the year.

Wizard World New Orleans is getting a limited edition version of The Walking Dead #1 with a variant cover by Michael Cho, which you can see here. Show attendees will be able to get a copy of this comic at registration while supplies last, and VIP ticket holders will receive a special, black-and-white sketch version of the cover.
“Wizard World is proud to be working with an artist as accomplished as Michael Cho on the first book in the series,” Wizard World president and CEO John Macaluso said in a press release. “With Season 5 of The Walking Dead in full swing, the franchise is more popular than ever at Wizard World shows, and Michael’s work is a great start to the highly collectible series.”
Cho has done work for Marvel and DC as well as his own creator-owned material. The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman spoke highly of his contribution to the Wizard World cover program.
“Michael Cho is an excellent choice to debut the 2015 The Walking Dead #1 exclusive variant cover series with Wizard World,” Kirkman said in a statement. “His interpretation sets a strong example for the quality fans can expect throughout 2015.”
Fittingly, the guest list for Wizard World New Orleans features several stars from The Walking Dead TV show, including Norman Reedus and Michael Rooker. Cho will also appear at the show, along with the likes of comic creators such as Mark Bagley, Humberto Ramos and Neal Adams.
Wizard World New Orleans takes over the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center from January 9-11. A full list of expected comics and pop culture guests as well as ticket information is available at WizardWorld.com.
