In Case You Were Worried, Vision Can Phase Through Things In Avengers: Age Of Ultron

The Marvel movies aren’t completely beholden to the comics, and that’s a good thing. They’ve been just fine presenting interpretations of characters we know and love without having to resort to straight adaptations of the source material.

That aside, I think I speak for plenty of fans when I say that the basics still need to be there, and the character from Avengers: Age of Ultron for whom the most questions have popped up has been the Vision. Everyone’s favorite android Avenger (I know he’s technically a synthezoid — put away the flamethrowers!) has been shrouded in the most mystery to date, with only sporadic glimpses of him coming from marketing materials and merchandise licensees.

Today Disney released more promo art from the movie, including the picture of the Vision that you can see above. Clearly, he’s showing off one of his more well-known comic book super powers, as he’s phasing through the logo or wall and coming right at us.

It’s kind of a relief, because Vision just isn’t Vision without his ability to manipulate his own density. I kind of felt like maybe that was too fantastic a power for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but since the movies are trending toward flashier powers with each successive year, maybe I shouldn’t have worried.

You can head over to IndieWire for a bunch more promo images, including Hulk and Hulkbuster Iron Man locked in a test of strength, closer looks at the presumably fully evolved Ultron, Thor standing over a pile of downed robots, and more. There are even images of some other 2015 Disney films, but let’s be honest: Age of Ultron is what’s really making you antsy for next year, right?
