Rumor: First Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice Teaser In February?

Take this as what it is, which is me aggregating rumor based on third-party speculation. Which is to say that it’s, at very best, an educated guess, but an exciting one nonetheless.

The Projection List thinks it has sussed out when we might see the first Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice teaser, and it’s less than a month away: February 6, to be exact, attached to Jupiter Ascending, the sci-fli flick by the Wachowskis. Take note that it’s distributed by Warner Bros.

Dawn of Justice isn’t headed our way until March 2016, and teasers don’t usually arrive 13 months out unless they’re the old school kind that don’t even give you any actual footage. But there are a couple factors that make this more likely than normal, in my opinion:

  • As Comicbook.com points out, Jupiter Ascending could use the boost from having the Batman v Superman teaser attached, as the Wachowskis haven’t exactly been on a hot streak as of late. If word gets out that people will be able to see even brief glimpses of the Justice League, that should help put some more butts in the seats.
  • Unlike most movies releasing in 2016, Dawn of Justice is actually done filming, or at least its principal photography is complete. In fact it was done so far in advance that people started other fun, totally speculative rumors that Warner Bros. might move up the movie’s release (and heck, that could still happen, I guess). The point is that there’s footage to be used in a teaser should the powers that be decide to do so, and plenty of it.

Again, strictly rumor at this point, but perhaps one that will pick up steam in the weeks to come if there’s any chance it might be true.

Oh, and The Fantastic Four might have its first trailer attached to Kingsman: The Secret Service, which comes out the following week, but that didn’t seem worth doing a whole separate post.
