So far, we only know a little bit about the 2015 version of Secret Wars, which will mash together all kinds of Marvel characters, worlds and stories in the comic event to end all events (at least for this year). Marvel would like to tell us more, and it’s having a special event to do it. An event to talk about the upcoming event!

The Secret Wars Live Kickoff will take place on Tuesday, January 20, beginning at 3 pm Eastern time. It will stream live from Midtown Comics in New York City and feature Editor-in-Chief Axel Alonso and SVP, Executive Editor Tom Brevoort. Since we all can’t make it to Midtown, everyone can watch online at marvel.com/secretwars.

Here’s what Marvel has to say about the Live Kickoff:

"Prepare for the coming of a new Battleworld and learn the first details of the strange, patchwork realm playing host to countless separate realities! The road to the biggest comic event of the year has begun, and you will not want to miss the first Earth shattering revelations that will have everyone talking! What will happen when Time Runs Out? What secrets does Battleworld hold? Tune in on 1/20 for the answers to those questions and more."

Do I actually think Alonso and Brevoort are going to answer all the questions about the secrets of the Battleworld? Uh, no, definitely not. Still, they shoould give us a little more information on exactly what this 21st Century Secret Wars is all about. Maybe we’ll get a better idea of which comics to read leading up to the event (besides Avengers and New Avengers, which definitely figure in) or hints as to who is behind the new Battleworld, assuming it’s not the Beyonder this time.

The actual Secret Wars series begins in May, and it’s written by Jonathan Hickman and illustrated by Esad Ribic. Presumably, we’ll know more about a week from now.
