Time Ran Out: Marvel Shows Off Final Avengers Covers
By Nick Tylwalk
Okay, these probably aren’t the last Avengers covers ever. They’re pretty hot right now in the overall pop culture world, or so I hear.

But there’s this thing called Secret Wars coming down the pike that is going to introduce some serious upheaval into the already tumultuous world of Marvel Comics, and the April issues of Avengers and New Avengers will wrap up both series.
In case you haven’t been reading them, writer Jonathan Hickman has been telling a tale set several months ahead of the rest of the Marvel line, where the Incursions of alternate dimensions are threatening to bring the entire universe to a premature end. It’s pitted Avengers versus Illuminati and reopened old wounds between Steve Rogers and Tony Stark while creating some new ones as well.
All of that drama is coming to a conclusion in three months. Here’s what Marvel says:
"Superstar writer Jonathan Hickman along with blockbuster artists Mike Deodato and Kev Walker bring to a close the epic saga of the Avengers, the Illuminati, and a Marvel Universe on the brink of extinction. The Incursions from parallel Earths from other dimensions have taken their toll on our heroes, and the battle worn Avengers stand ready to face utter decimation."
At least they’ll all be well-rested for Secret Wars! Oh, wait …
Seen here are the interlocking covers by Dustin Weaver for Avengers #44 and New Avengers #33, the end of the line for both books. I seriously hope Cap and Iron Man don’t end up completely naked by the end of that fight, though. Look for both issues in stores and on digital in April.
