Brian Michael Bendis Re-Signs Exclusive Deal With Marvel
By Nick Tylwalk
Have no fear, Brian Michael Bendis fans. The acclaimed writer isn’t about to turn his back on comics, or leave the place where he became famous, just yet.

He’s sticking around at Marvel, thanks to a new, exclusive agreement that the company announced earlier this week. Bendis is probably best known for his lengthy runs on the Avengers titles and Ultimate Spider-Man, but he’s touched on many parts of both the Marvel and Ultimate universes over the last 15 years.
His career outside of comics has also expanded quite a bit as of late, which is why there was buzz that he’d be hanging it up as a comics writer. Thankfully, Bendis says that is not the case.
“There’s been some speculation that I will be leaving comics because of other cool things going on in my life but I wanted to let everyone know that isn’t the case,” Bendis said in a press release. “I get it, sometimes when people have something going on in other media they tend to drift away from comics. But that is the opposite of what my life’s goals are. I want to bring people into comics so they can see the original wonderful magic we have to offer every single week. My partnership with Marvel, since the first day they hired me, has been a continuous dream come true and I’m honored that I get to continue this partnership for many years to come.”
In the short term, that means re-teaming with Mark Bagley for Secret Wars: Ultimate End, as well as another Secret Wars series that has yet to be announced. Bendis will also continue Powers, his creator-owned hit, through Marvel’s Icon imprint. That series will get a new #1 issue on March 10, designed to be a jumping-on point for new readers as the Powers TV show prepares to launch on the PlayStation Network on that same date.
