Spider-Man Return Shuffles Four Marvel Movie Release Dates
By Nick Tylwalk
In the frenzy over the Marvel-Sony deal to allow Spider-Man to appear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, there was a detail that might have been easy to overlook at first. Marvel announced that Spidey would make his MCU debut before Sony did its next solo film to release on July 28, 2017. One problem: Thor: Ragnarok was scheduled to come out that day. Surely we wouldn’t be getting two super hero movies on the exact same day, right?

- James Gunn gives interesting update of Superman and Supergirl movies at DC Studios
As it turns out, we will not. Marvel followed with a second announcement revealing that Thor: Ragnarok and three other Phase Three movies will be shuffling release dates. Here are the changes:
- Thor: Ragnarok moves from July 28, 2017 to November 3, 2017
- Black Panther moves from November 3, 2017 to July 6, 2018
- Captain Marvel moves from July 6, 2018 to November 2, 2018
- Inhumans moves from November 2, 2018 to July 12, 2019
Those shifts essentially extend Phase Three of the MCU further into the summer of 2019, as Avengers: Infinity War Part II was supposed to be the end of this group of movies, but Inhumans will now debut two months after that.
They also might bring just a hint of sadness to fans waiting to see Black Panther and Captain Marvel in solo films, as they’ll have to wait even longer. On the other hand, Black Panther has already been confirmed to feature in Captain America: Civil War, and it would be a major shock not to see Captain Marvel show up prior to November 2018.
