Marvel Offers Kingsman: The Secret Service In Print And Digital
By Nick Tylwalk
You could be excused for not knowing that Kingsman: The Secret Service was a movie based on a comic book. The limited series that gave birth to the film had big name creators on it in the form of writer Mark Millar and artist Dave Gibbons (who you might know from a little series called Watchmen that’s a bit older), but it didn’t exactly set the comics world ablaze when it released three years ago.

Marvel is trying to rectify that situation while undoubtedly capitalizing on the popularity of the film, which even my mom and stepdad enjoyed. Thus, you can now find all six issues of The Secret Service repackaged as Kingsman: The Secret Service (see what they did there?), which is available now in trade paperback form, complete with a spiffy new movie cover.
“It’s weird seeing Colin Firth and Michael Caine on the cover of your comic-book” Millar said in a press release. “The biggest thrill for me doing this was working with Dave Gibbons, who I’d written fan-mail to as a teenager. But seeing a book we’re so happy with collected and then seeing it having that crazy opening weekend in the States last week has been fantastic. Dave’s off on some kind of permanent vacation right now. I’m sitting here mulling over the sequel. Thanks to everyone for supporting our movie. Pick up the book if you want to see where it all started.”
If digital is more your thing, you can pick up the trade that way as well. In any case, if/when that sequel that Millar mentions rolls around, you definitely won’t be able to claim ignorance of its comic book roots.
