Smith Wants ‘Biggest Historical Image of Deadshot’
While Will Smith isn’t the first time we’ve had someone play the role of the assassin Deadshot, the upcoming Suicide Squad movie will be Deadshot’s first time on the big screen and the first exposure many people will get to to the character. Smith realizes this and really sees it as an opportunity.

"With this character and the DC world, I love that I’m getting the opportunity for the global definition of Deadshot. There’s been Deadshot in little appearances here and there, there’s an idea, but Deadshot isn’t defined, really. I get to be a part of the creation that will be the biggest historical image of Deadshot."
I don’t know if agree that Deadshot isn’t well defined. It’s easy to look at the comics and even shows like Arrow and Smallville where an actor has taken on the role to see that there is plenty to define him. That being said, if Smith wants to put his own definitive stamp on the role and redefine the character for a new audience? That he might totally be capable of doing in a positive way. Watch the video of Will Smith talking with MTV below as well as Margot Robbie, who plays Harley Quinn in the film talk about her excitement for Smith being up for the role as well as her enthusiasm for her character. Suicide Squad is scheduled to open in theaters August 5th, 2016.
