Wolverine Is Inspired By Batman?

So Wolverine and Batman have a lot in common, both loners who always want to be in charge, both orphans and outcasts, etc. But something tells me these similarities would actually lead to these two outright hating each other rather than getting along. But is it possible Wolverine is inspired by Batman?

Well, at the very least Wolverine actor Hugh Jackman says he is inspired by Michael Keaton, who played Batman in Tim Burton’s two Batman films. Jackman tells EW he was directly inspired by Keaton’s latest film Birdman, which is getting loads of critical praise:

"I said to my wife, ‘The moral is that I should never stop playing Wolverine. I’ve got to find a way to keep playing him until I die.’ I know that someday they’ll recast the role with another actor…I’d be happy if the role was eventually recast. It would mean that it had become iconic."

Well I think Jackman playing Wolverine has sort of become iconic by default. He’s been so perfect in the role for so long even terrible dreck like the two stand alone Wolverine films hasn’t made us want someone else as Wolverine. But yes one day he’ll have to pass on the role to someone else, and it’ll be interesting if the character of Wolverine can survive the transition…
