Agents Of SHIELD Stars Talk On Larry King Now
By Nick Tylwalk
It’s really almost a reflex action to type Larry King Live at this point. But even though the longtime TV and radio host no longer hasn’t hosted his CNN show for a couple years now, he stays busy with his web series Larry King Now.

That’s relevant because he recently sat down with three of the stars of Agents of SHIELD: Elizabeth Henstridge (Jemma Simmons), Iain De Caestecker (Leo Fitz) and Brett Dalton (Grant Ward). The big takeaway was Dalton actually discussing the Inhumans making their first appearance on the series — even though the characters themselves don’t realize that just yet.
It’s also very clear that the cast members have grown close through the course of a season and a half, with plenty of banter about each other and the characters they all play.
Other fun bits:
- Henstridge on Jemma’s love life, or lack thereof: “I’d like to see Simmons get some sort of boyfriend.. or girlfriend.” Along with her perpetually tortured relationship with Fitz, Simmons seemed to be growing close with Agent Antoine Triplett. Alas, he seems to be slightly dead right now.
- Dalton discussing what we can expect from Ward the rest of Season 2:” He was a wolf in sheep’s clothing the entire time, so that was a big reveal and I think made him a completely different character. Now he’s this — not just a lone wolf as he was in season one, but he’s a wild card, I mean, you never know what’s going to happen.” Ward does seem to be following the beat of his own drummer right now, though he has aligned himself with the fake Agent May, Agent 33, for the time being.
- De Caestecker talking about why Agents of SHIELD is unique: “What’s cool about this show, I suppose, is that unlike most marvel stories the central characters are human beings and they’re fighting against the same kind of super heroes and supernatural elements that they do with a lot of the other stories, but we’re human beings. The stakes are raised.” We’ll see if that continues to be the case now that Skye has transformed into something resembling a bona fide super hero.
