New Group Of Runaways Gathering On Secret Wars Battleworld
By Nick Tylwalk
I’d make a joke about how these aren’t your parents’ Runaways, but that would almost be too painful a pun given the premise of the original series.

As with all things Secret Wars, things are a bit different on the Battleworld. In Runaways #1 by writer Noelle Stevenson and Sanford Greene, the young heroes won’t be fleeing their parents. Instead, they’ll be looking for a way out after learning that the headmaster at their prestigious academy in the planet’s capital is actually a super villain — and he or she is using the school to groom the next generation of super-powered evildoers.
“Noelle and Sanford have come up with a fun cast of alternate reality versions of some fan-favorite characters (including original Runaway Molly Hayes!), plus a few new characters who we’re really excited about,” editor Wil Moss said in a press release. “It’s a different take on Runaways, for sure, but that same fresh, adventurous, character-driven spirit of the original series remains the same!”
Along with Molly, the roster for this new team includes:
- Jubilee
- Bucky Barnes
- Cloak
- Dagger
- Amadeus Cho
- Skaar
