With Sony’s Sinister Six spin-off cancelled, Marvel might do one instead!

That’s right folks, Sony’s planned Sinister Six spin-off has reportedly been scrapped following the deal with Marvel and the subsequent report from Latino Review that suggests that Drew Goddard is now attached to Marvel’s 2017 Spider-Man film which is being tentatively called ‘Spectacular Spider-Man’.

However that doesn’t mean we’re not going to get the debut of the Sinister Six onscreen as it seems that Marvel are keen to get the iconic group of Spider-Man villains together for their rebooted franchise. In fact it appears that the Sinister Six are going to be a big part of the first movie! At least that’s what the unsubstantiated report from Latino Review suggests.

"So the thinking at the moment is that Sony will faze out all the Spidey Verse films they were developing.  Yes even the Aunt May film (that was real!) and focus on a story involving Spidey versus the Sinister Six."

Latino Review’s source goes on to add

"The first film will involved the Sinister Six coming together with the thought to later maybe spin them off."

What’s particularly interesting about that last sentence is that it doesn’t just confirm that the individual members of the Sinister Six will appear in ‘Spectacular Spider-Man’ (we might as well start calling it that now) but it also suggests that Marvel might revive the potential Sinister Six spin-off for themselves.

Fingers crossed!
