Is This What Batman Will Look Like In June?
By Nick Tylwalk
Batman has a long history of having “wonderful toys,” but he doesn’t usually roam the streets of Gotham City in a mech suit with a huge gun. Come June, though, he just might.

The image above is from the cover of Batman #41, which goes on sale in June. The cover and the solicitation for that issue were revealed this morning on Comic Book Resources, with the description of the book including this bit:
"The all-new Batman makes his debut! Who is he, and what happens next? Find out here as a new era begins in Gotham City!"
That suggests that it isn’t Bruce Wayne inside the suit, meaning the end of the current arc, “Endgame,” might be more traumatic for Bruce than we might have suspected — and since he’s already learned that the Joker might be immortal, that’s saying something.
Snyder also told CBR that the ideas for this story are so different from what people are accustomed that he “kept waiting to be told no” and “toyed with calling it ‘All-New Batman'” (though probably not for real, since that’s kind of Marvel’s thing). He also made it clear that this change is really happening, that it’s not a dream, a side effect of Scarecrow’s fear toxin, or some other kind of trick:
"I’m not going to spoil it specifically, but I can tell you unequivocally, it is the boldest, weirdest, biggest thing we’ve ever tried on the book. I’m not being hyperbolic: You’ll see it, and you’ll be like, “I can’t believe they’re doing that.”"
Naturally, those kind of claims and the cover image, which you can see in full below, have already got the internet buzzing. Artist Greg Capullo, who has been on the entire Batman run with Snyder, took to Twitter to ask for people to give the story a chance in his own inimitable style:
If Bruce has handed over the role of Batman to someone else, either willingly or because he’s incapacitated, it won’t be the first time. Yet Snyder and Capullo are pushing the envelope pretty consistently, so this is shaping up to be the craziest change the Dark Knight has ever seen.
