Say Goodbye: Another Look At The Death Of Deadpool In Deadpool Number 250

It’s technically Deadpool #45 that will see Wade Wilson shuffle off this mortal coil, but Marvel used some new math, perhaps that Common Core stuff, to determine that it was actually Deadpool’s 250th issue. In any case, Deadpool Number 250 is a big anniversary, and he’s celebrating it by dying. Fun!

Knowing Wade Wilson, he’s not going out without a fight and a few choice words. Who’s doing him in? In the 30-page main story, it’s going to be Ultimatum. In the real world, it’s a task that’s being tackled by Gerry Duggan and Brian Posehn on words and Mike Hawthorne on art.

The middle story in this “Death of Deadpool Sandwich” is also by Duggan and Posehn, this time joined by Scott Koblish. The premise is simple and awesome: Deadpool has the Infinity Gauntlet (wait … what?), and the first thing he does with it is to summon the entire Marvel Universe to give him a roast. Seems strangely appropriate.

Last but not least, a whole mess of writers and artists — seriously, too many to list here — drop by to say their goodbyes. It’s a super-sized sendoff for someone we never expected to see die. On the bright side, a whole bunch of other people will be joining the Merc With a Mouth once Secret Wars destroys the Marvel Universe. I mean, that’s kind of a bright side, right?

Take a look at just a few of the many pages in Deadpool 250 (a.k.a. Deadpool #45) and variant covers by Skottie Young and Tony Moore. Then run, don’t walk, to your LCS or your digital portal on April 8 to see Deadpool in action for the last time. I know, I can’t believe I just typed that either.
