Though it’s not as much fun as speculating, it’s a lot easier to know what’s ahead in future super hero films when the stars just come right out and tell you.

This week’s case study is America’s sweetheart, Jennifer Lawrence, who plays Mystique in the current X-Men films. While she’s getting set to reprise that role in X-Men: Apocalypse, she left no doubt about the future of her involvement in more mutant adventures when MTV asked her (via Super Hero Hype) about rumors that this would be her last time playing the character.

"It is my last one, actually. Yes."

Not much doubt about that response, which you can see for yourself at the tail end of the video below. Less helpfully, Bradley Cooper also revealed that he might be starring as Rocket Raccoon again in some parades.

Jokes aside, Lawrence’s answer reinforces what Simon Kinberg and Bryan Singer have been saying all along about X-Men: Apocalypse, which is that they envision it as the end of a trilogy that includes X-Men: First Class and X-Men: Days of Future Past. As such, we shoukd probably be mentally prepared that it could be the end of the line for James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender and some of the other main cast members as well.

Not Hugh Jackman, though. He’s probably going to be playing Wolverine forever.
