By now, everyone knows that once the credits start rolling at the end of Marvel movies, you stay put. It’s actually gotten to the point where some of my friends make fun of people walking out when the credits begin. Still, when you go see Avengers: Age of Ultron in a few weeks, you can feel free to leave the theater before the “special thanks to …” and soundtrack information pop up.

Why? It’s because Age of Ultron has no post-credits scene, or at least not one at the tail end of the credits. There’s a pretty simple reason for that too: director Joss Whedon says he couldn’t think of anything that would top the shawarma scene, so there was no point in even trying.
Here’s what he told Entertainment Weekly:
"There is nothing at the very end. And that’s not a fake-out. We want people to know so they don’t sit there for 10 minutes and then go: ‘Son of a bitch! I’ll kill them!’"
Have no fear, though, because there is an Age of Ultron mid-credits scene, or what Whedon and Marvel Studios head honcho Kevin Feige calls a tag scene. Here we’re talking about thinks like the first appearance of Thanos during The Avengers. That scene will almost assuredly provide the link to other upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe films (like Captain America: Civil War, for instance) and could have a surprise character or two.
But once it’s over, you can leave. Seriously. We won’t even make fun of you, and in fact, we’ll be right behind you.
