Batkid Begins is a documentary telling the real story of Miles Scott, a child stricken with cancer (he’s since recovered) who, through the Make A Wish foundation, got to be Batman and save the city of Gotham (San Francisco) for a day from the likes of Penguin & The Riddler. What made this story so unique and worthy of the national attention it got is the level of participation from the city. Thousands of volunteers, the mayor of San Francsisco and the police department all signed up to help make Miles dream of becoming Batkid for a day become true. Now you can see how this amazing event got put together in the documentary Batkid Begins when it gets a theatrical release June 26th.
Batkid Begins is also getting the glitzy Hollywood-style treatment, as New Line Cinemas, which is also distributing the documentary, is working on a narrative film version that Julia Roberts will produce and star in. Rest assured, as soon as we can see Batkid Begins, we’ll give a review, so hopefully it’s going to be playing in a theater near us!
