Convergence: Your Guide To All The Worlds, Times And Stories In The DC Mega-Event

Earth 2, Post-Flashpoint Universe

First Appearance: Earth 2 #1

Notable Heroes: Kind of, sort of new versions of the Justice Society, along with a different Superman, Batman, etc.

This is a world that should be quite familiar to readers of current DC comics, seeing as its had a regular ongoing series and a weekly series devoted to it for quite some time. Thus, I’ll just bullet point the most relevant highlights from its short but eventful history.

  • Where the Justice League was able to fight off an invasion from Darkseid on Earth 1, this world wasn’t so lucky. A new wave of heroes helped fight off the forces of Apokolips, but at a high cost, since Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman were all killed in the process.
  • Some of the heroes, like Green Lantern (Alan Scott), Flash (Jay Garrick) and Hawkgirl (Kendra Saunders), are simply newer takes on the original Earth-Two classics. Others, like Dr. Fate, have the same names but are different people under the masks. A new Superman and Batman eventually popped up. Also, Lois Lane is the Red Tornado.
  • It appeared that Superman might have survived the invasion and switched sides as the (stupidly named) villain named Brutaal, but he turned out to be a clone, making him more like this world’s Bizarro.
  • Not one to give up easily, Darkseid decided to have another go at this Earth. It didn’t go well for its citizens, and we found out that the reason it kept being invaded is that Highfather sold it out to Darkseid in exchange for leaving the other 51 Earths alone. Another reminder that the New 52 Highfather is kind of a jerk (somewhere, multiple Lanterns are nodding).

Look, this poor world has been through enough already. Whoever gets matched up against it during Convergence, please consider cutting these folks a break. They deserve it.

Check back later for more, including cowboy heroes and funny animals!
