Spider-Man won’t be in the Avengers: Age of Ultron post-credits scene

Ever since the deal between Marvel and Sony allowing Spider-Man to appear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe was announced, people have been eager to find out when they’ll get their first glimpse at Marvel’s newest acquisition.

Sure, Marvel announced that we’d first see Spider-Man in one of their films during Captain America 3: Civil War and that he’d then get his own film in 2017. But there are many out there who are keeping their fingers crossed and hoping that Marvel will surprise us and Spider-Man will be shown/teased in the Avengers: Age of Ultron post-credit scene.

But I’m here to burst that bubble and tell you that it isn’t going to happen!

It’s become quite a tradition for Marvel films (and now other film franchises) to include a teaser for future films, a little joke scene, or another various tit-bit at the very end of their credits. So much so that nowadays people sit and wait for the credits to roll on most films for fear of missing something. It’s even gotten to the point where people that leave early get laughed out of the cinema because ‘they don’t know what they’re missing.’

However, as far as Age of Ultron is concerned, there will be no post-credits scene. The film’s director Joss Whedon told Entertainment Weekly that AOU wouldn’t have a scene at the end of the credits because he didn’t know how to top the Shawarma scene from the first Avengers. He went on to say

"There is nothing at the very end. And that’s not a fake-out. We want people to know so they don’t sit there for 10 minutes and then go: ‘Son of a bitch! I’ll kill them!’"

So as you can see Spider-Man won’t be in the post-credits scene because there is no such scene. But don’t panic, Marvel aren’t breaking tradition as there will still be a mid-credits ‘Tag’ scene and Spidey could well and truly be in that. As far as I’m aware the only character that has been confirmed as not appearing in that scene is Captain Marvel.
