I’m not sure if you’ve figured this out already or not, but the Battleworld in Secret Wars isn’t going to be a very harmonious place. With bits and pieces of a bunch of different worlds thrown together, some of them much more dangerous than the normal, 616 Marvel Earth, there’s going to be some battles breaking out.

And while we’re all curious about the storyline in Marvel’s upcoming mega-event, sometimes we just want to see different versions of beloved characters throw down. The place to see that will be Secret Wars: Battleworld, a four-issue limited series that Marvel is describing as “wall-to-wall action across the surface of Battleworld!” The exclamation point is theirs, not mine, but it’s probably apt.
In issue #1, we’re going to find out what happens when Dr. Strange possesses the Punisher, leaving their world’s Spider-Man, Wolverine, Ghost Rider and Hulk to join forces to take them down. The second story features everyone’s favorite giant floating head, M.O.D.O.K., as he gathers all of the alternate versions of himself together in one place. It sounds like that meeting might not go smoothly.
With different creators and new brawls in each issue, this is one companion series that should simply be a good time. Look for Secret Wars: Battleworld #1 at your LCS or on digital on May 20 — but not before you scroll down and check out the preview pages we’ve got for you right here.
