It’s no question that US fans are rabid for the Avengers: Age of Ultron, but it seems that the rest of the world are also sharing that same sentiment. Lucky audiences in countries that have an earlier release date have already helped the film set and break records in international markets.

According to ComingSoon.net, Avengers: Age of Ultron opened #1 in 44 territories and has amassed a take of $201.2 million in 55% of the marketplace. $10.4 million of that estimate is also credited to 175 international IMAX theaters. This sets an international IMAX record for a movie not opening in China, beating the past record of $7.2 million set by Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar (2014). Countries where Avengers: Age of Ultron has been the most popular are Korea with $28.2 million, the United Kingdom with $27.3 million, and Russia with $16.2 million.
Avengers: Age of Ultron has yet to open in North America and China, which will be May 1, 2015 and May 12, 2015, respectively. When the film hits those markets, you can expect the already record-shattering international box-office earnings to go through the stratosphere. Some are speculating Avengers: Age of Ultron to become the highest earning film of all time.
