Hilarious Video Pokes Fun At Marvel Cinematic Universe Phase Four

Sometimes, jokes are funny enough that you can’t help but laugh even though you’re the butt of them.

As evidence, I present the video below, which takes the form of a supposed leaked video for Marvel Phase Four. I’ll firmly admit that as a professional fanboy, editor of a comic book/super hero site and longtime fan, I tend to get caught up in the hype surrounding all things related to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It’s part of my job, sure, but I’d be the same way even if I was working in another industry.

And while there’s nothing wrong with getting excited about this stuff, particularly since a rampant movie and TV presence was just a pipe dream as recently as 10 years ago, we fans do tend to get a little carried away with every new announcement, to say nothing of speculating about the next announcement.

The fake Marvel titles Steven Rosenthal dreams up for Phase Four of the MCU (“Red Velvet” and “Judge Judgement” are two of my faves) are humorous enough, but where he really scores is with his accompanying post on Medium, where he absolutely nails the breathless tone with which we discuss and predict Marvel’s every move. Even the basic conceit of a leak is enough to make me smile, seeing as real life leaks drive so much of the frenzy.

As people were fond of saying at one of my previous workplaces, it’s funny because it’s true. I’m guessing Rosenthal is laughing with us and not at us here, in the sense that this isn’t a mean-spirited assault on the MCU. Take a look and decide for yourself.
