Rumor: Both Charlize Theron And Angelina Jolie On Captain Marvel?
By Nick Tylwalk
The super hero movie rumor mill continues to crank, and while I personally trust some scoopers more than others, we can certainly discuss any tidbit that is big enough and still sounds plausible. The Captain Marvel tidbit from this morning qualifies, because it goes beyond dream casting and shoots for the moon: as in having both Charlize Theron and Angelina Jolie involved in the solo debut for Carol Danvers.

Even though that sounds too good to be true, it’s what OK! magazine is suggesting (relayed by Yahoo!). Not only are the two actresses now closer friends than ever before, they’d be willing to team up on Captain Marvel with Theron in the lead role and Jolie behind the camera.
"Marvel has been courting Angie to direct the project and Charlize is a clear fan favourite for the starring role. If Charlize were to get the part, Angie would almost certainly sign on to work with her new pal."
So one contingent on the other, but still quite the coup if it turns out to be true,
It’s certainly not completely crazy, because Theron’s name has often been tossed around as a performer with both the chops and the physicality to portray one of Marvel’s most powerful female heroes. She even resembles the way many artists draw Danvers.
Jolie has also surfaced as a possible director for Captain Marvel, though those were early rumors indeed. Still, she certainly would fit the bill as both a strong female voice, something Marvel is said to want for this film, and the kind of name talent that the studio has consistently been attracting for its movies.
A double announcement for Theron and Jolie would be a splashy one indeed. We’ll have to wait and see if it’s coming, as Captain Marvel isn’t due in theaters until November 2, 2018.
