Big Mack Attack: Henry Simmons Will Be Series Regular In Agents Of SHIELD Season 3
By Nick Tylwalk
Then there were 10. Following the news earlier this week that Luke Mitchell’s Lincoln will be a series regular on Season 3 of Agents of SHIELD comes word that Henry Simmons will also be elevated to the main cast.

Simmons was on a lot during Season 2 as Alphonso “Mack” MacKenzie, though he never was considered a series regular. He will be in the fall, joining the original six, Bobbi Morse, Lance Hunter and Lincoln to give the show an even 10.
“Mack’s story from Season 2 left him at a great place for us to continue, opening up new possibilities for the character as he takes charge of overseeing S.H.I.E.L.D.’s storehouse of unexplainable or alien objects,” Executive Producer/Marvel’s Head of Television, Jeph Loeb said in a statement. “We couldn’t be more excited to add Mack to our regular cast of heroes.”
Hopefully the writers have some more ideas for Mack in Season 3, as his story seemed to fizzle out a couple of times. Initially a good-natured friend to Leo Fitz in a time of need, Mack was revealed to be working with Morse as a mole for another faction of SHIELD. He also got disgusted with the idea of aliens — perhaps as the result of a close call with some Kree technology in the Inhuman temple — and never really got over his distrust of Phil Coulson as a result.
Regardless, it seemed like fans were happy that he didn’t just up and leave during the finale as he had threatened to do, so they’ll probably welcome more Mack in the episodes to come. Agents of SHIELD returns this fall, Tuesdays at 9 pm on ABC.
