Upcoming Comic Book Movie Trailers

I’m not sure about you guys, but there are a number of things that I will always associate with a complete theater experience: the smell of fresh popped popcorn; the friction sound of soda straws rubbing against their lids; the dimming of the lights; and the movie trailers right before the feature presentation.

Yes, movie trailers.  They’ve gone through quite an evolution.  If you look at how they were presented from decade-to-decade, you’ll notice that they’ve become more thrilling and faster-paced.  In fact, each trailer is now scrutinized by the actual film’s own director and editor before its release.  As visual effects-laden films are now a dime a dozen, filmmakers need to create a compelling marketing push to audiences.

With that in mind, comic book movies are usually the ones that bring their best A-game in terms of trailer excitement and action.  Via The Projection List’s speculated drop dates, here is a list of upcoming comic book movies soon to have their trailers released to the silver screen.

Peanuts

Hey, comic book movies can’t all be about superheroes.  And the Peanuts qualify just as much as any character wearing tights.  Charlie Brown and his gang started from a comic strip in daily and Sunday newspapers in 1947.  After the death of their creator, Charles M. Shulz, the Peanuts made their final appearance in comics on February 13, 2000.  However, the Peanuts now live on in other media, and they’ll be reuniting in November 2015 in a 3D animated feature film.

Deadpool

The Merc with a Mouth finally gets his own movie and it will star Ryan Reynolds reprising his role from X-Men Origins: Wolverine (2009).  Reynolds has already been tweeting pics of himself as Deadpool, and we already got a good look at him in action when he humorously killed A.C. Slater Mario Lopez on the set of Extra.

Captain America: Civil War

What fans are now jokingly calling Avengers 2.5 due to its large ensemble cast, Captain America: Civil War will pit Steve Rogers against Tony Stark, where both of them are now in opposition as to how much the government should control and survey people with superhuman abilities.  In this newest installment to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Captain America will be leading a new team of Avengers.

X-Men: Apocalypse

The highly anticipated next installment of the X-Men saga will take place in the 1980s.  A new generation of younger thespians will inherit the iconic roles of the original cast.  And they will be facing off with a new mutant villain — En Sabah Nur, a.k.a. Apocalypse.  According to writer Simon Kinberg, X-Men: Apocalypse will close out this current trilogy which began with X-Men: First Class (2011).

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice

Finally, my own personal favorite.  This is the film on my radar, and I’ll be celebrating just as much when I get to see the full-length trailer.  The teaser, to me, was excellent, but it did have its detractors.  I guess you can’t make everyone happy.  My hopes for this newest trailer are glimpses of Superman and Batman battling it out and an appearance from Wonder Woman.
