DC Announces The Return Of Batman Day On September 26

Just because it’s not Batman’s 75th anniversary in 2015 doesn’t mean there can’t be a special day set aside just for the Dark Knight. It’s just going to be a little later this year.

Last year, DC decreed July 23 as Batman Day, but it’s moving back a few months this time: to Saturday, September 26, to be specific. As part of the festivities, DC talent like Jim Lee, Grant Morrison, Scott Snyder, David Finch, Brian Azzarello, Cameron Stewart, Pat Gleason, Dustin Nguyen, Tim Seeley, Tom King, Dan Jurgens, Jeff Parker, Matthew Manning, and Daniel Wallace will be making appearances at participating comic shops, libraries and bookstores, with the company touting more names still to be announced.

Multiple licensing partners, including Capstone, Penguin Random House, Scholastic, and DK Publishing, will join Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and Warner Bros. Television in special initiatives for Batman Day. DC says we can expect “unique retail and digital promotional tie-ins across multiple media” in honor of the Caped Crusader.

There’s even a website set up for interested stores and institutions to apply for a Batman Day event kit, so if you run an LCS or library, you might want to check that out. I’m also thinking it’s a good time to bust out your favorite Batman-related cosplay, because if someone gives you a hard time about dressing in costume, you can just say, “Hey, it’s Batman Day!”
