Jared Leto is one of those actors who likes going “method” for his movies, getting entirely into character for his role and acting like it 24/7 if possible until the movie is done filming. He has been doing this for his role as the Joker in Suicide Squad as well. If this wasn’t obvious to the cast and crew of Suicide Squad when he was on set, it really became clear when he sent the cast and crew a series of rather bizarre gifts.

Adam Beach, who plays Slipknot talked with E Online about the gifts:
"He sent [Margot Robbie] a nice love letter with a black box with a rat in it—a live rat. It was beautiful. Then he sent bullets to Will [Smith] with a letter."
The cast also received a video as well as a dead hog.
"Basically, what he said was, ‘Guys, I can’t be there but I want you to know I’m doing my work as hard as you guys. The video he showed is in character. It blew our minds away. Then we realized that day, this is real."
I appreciate that Leto seems to be getting into the role, but if he really wanted to embody Joker, he should’ve sent the cast some exploding whoopie cushions or high voltage electric joybuzzers. Maybe give Margot Robbie some live Hyenas instead of a rat. Suicide Squad opens in theaters August 5th, 2016.
