Guardians Of The Galaxy 2 Is Even More Emotional

Recently, Collider was able to catch up with director James Gunn during the 41st Annual Saturn Awards in Burbank and extract some information about the highly anticipated Guardians of the Galaxy 2.  Gunn told the interviewer that the sequel will be “a more emotional movie.”  Is that even possible?  Guardians of the Galaxy had some scenes that made even grown men cry.  Gunn then goes on to describe the scope of the new film:

"It’s both a bigger movie and a smaller movie because we focus more intensely on some of the characters. We get to learn … you know … a lot about fathers in the second movie and I think we focus a lot on that."

Right after that, a reporter quickly asks if Magus will be introduced in the sequel.  And in typical Marvel-style secrecy, Gunn replied with, “You’ll have to wait to see the movie to see who’s introduced.”  One hint that Gunn was able to drop was Star-Lord’s choice of music.  We may be able to hear Awesome Mix Vol. 2 — which was the final gift Meredith Quill gave to Jason on her deathbed.  Check out the full segment with Gunn answering some questions:

Set to be released on May 5, 2017, Guardians of the Galaxy 2 will be directed by James Gunn, written by James Gunn and Nicole Perlman, and star Chris Pratt as Peter Quill / Star-Lord, Zoe Saldana as Gamora, Dave Bautista as Drax the Destroyer, Vin Diesel as Groot, and Bradley Cooper as Rocket.
