Guardians Of The Galaxy 2 Gets Its Official Title
By Nick Tylwalk
You’re welcome, Guardians of the Galaxy fans.
While the world has been wondering for a while what the title of the sequel was going to be, director James Gunn finally just decided to let everyone know.
His reference in the tweet is to an article on Collider by Adam Chitwood that had Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige unwittingly tip his hand about the official title. Hilariously, one of the first people to respond to Gunn’s tweet wonders if he’s messing with us because he’s British. Gunn is, in fact, American.
Obviously, the title works as a reference to one of the fan-favorite parts of the original Guardians of the Galaxy, which was Star-Lord’s Awesome Mix full of old pop tunes from decades past. We saw toward the end of the movie that his mom had made him a Vol. 2 before she passed, so it’s a pretty natural if simple way to tie the two movies together — especially with the identity of Peter Quill’s father expected to be one of the larger plot points in the sequel.
