Tyrese Gibson Meets With Warner Bros. For Green Lantern Corps
By Steve Lam
Via Collider, we have news that Tyrese Gibson met with Warner Bros. in regards to a role in the studio’s planned Green Lantern Corps. During a press junket for the Blu-ray release of Furious 7, Gibson confirmed to Collider Editor-in-Chief Steve Weintraub that he indeed met with the studio:
"I’ve already had a couple of meetings at Warner Bros., so we’ll see what happens. I do believe that there needs to be more black superheroes out there, but that’s not even my motivation. I think I would be the best Green Lantern and based on my fans and supporters that spent around $6 billion in box office receipts, I feel like there’s a fanbase of fans out there waiting to see me put on this green suit and do my thing. So I would love to confirm something today but I can’t. We’ll just keep following up."
It’s not known whether or not this meeting happened as a result of fans. However, the hype and momentum of Gibson embodying the role of John Stewart is definitely fan-driven. Another actor rumored to be in talks — and not in competition to to be a lead in the film — is Chris Pine who may play the role of Hal Jordan.

It’s been speculated that one of the Green Lanterns may show up sooner than the Green Lantern Corps. As DC is now fully invested in a shared universe, that character may appear as soon as the upcoming Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice which is scheduled to be released on March 26, 2015.
